More Great Spanish Songs: Climax–Mesa Que Mas Aplauda

Be warned, this song sounds fairly annoying if you’re not drunk, but there are a lot of scantilly clad girls in the video…I mean stuff that would put Whitesnake to shame…sigh…that’s why I love Peru.

Back around 2005, this was the theme music for my German friend Andreas. In fact, here’s a picture of Andreas:

Ha ha, these pictures from the jungle crack me up. Yep, that’s right, if you spend enough time with me, you’ll eventually appear in a picture surrounded by scantilly clad natives.

At first, Andreas didn’t like to dance, but he learned quickly when he saw how effective a tactic it was for…er…meeting people. The song that they happened to be playing on the radio all the time in those days was “Mesa Que Mas Aplauda,” and the chorus says “to the table that gives the greatest applause we will send the…well they say ‘nina,’ which means ‘little girl,’ but by the video I think the more correct translation is to say ‘stripper.'” Awesome… This song had it’s own little dance and everybody went crazy when they saw two gringos who knew it.

Sigh…the mispent days of my twenties….

Anyway, here’s the lyrics with a rough translation:

mesa, mesa, mesa que mas aplauda
table, table, table that applauds the most
table that applauds the most, table that applauds the most we’ll send them we’ll send them, we’ll send them the girl
table that applauds the most yes, table that applauds the most no
table that applauds the most we’ll send them, we’ll send them, we’ll send them the girl

(CORO)
chorus
za, za ,za ya cuza, ya cuza
za, za ,za ya cuza, ya cuza
za, za ,za ya cuza, ya cuza
za, za ,za ya cuza, ya cuza
this means nothing, although there was a minor scandle regarding this song when somebody suggested zacuza was the name of a demon or something

Tu me aplaudes…que tu me aplaudes
you applaud for me…start applauding for me
Tu me aplaudes…que tu me aplaudes

(CORO)

and the (this is another tricky translation, it’s slang, and “huevos” are “eggs,” so this wants to say the “idiots” or the “eggheads” or the “assholes” or something, it’s a good word, use it a lot)
los hijos de papi
the daddy’s boys
y los juniors
the juniors
y los los fresas
the rich (more slang, “fresas” is strawberries normally)
those that rob mom’s money and spend it on “Climax” (“Climax” is the name of the band that sings this, but there’s also a fairly obvious double entendre here)

Tu me aplaudes…que tu me aplaudes
Tu me aplaudes…que tu me aplaudes

End Song

So there you have it! Another great resource for learning a bunch of Spanish words. Trust me, this is a great bar song, it gets everybody all worked up.
