More on the Wayna Picchu Hike

Here’s my friend Frank on a better day on the road to the top of Wayna Picchu. See how happy he looks? That’s the way everybody who climbs up Wayna Picchu looks becasue that place is so awesome. You could live there a thousand years and still not ever cease to be amazed on a daily basis on the spectacular sights. I mean, look right behind Frank! You can see directly into the valley like 1000 meters below! There isn’t even the slightest impeded view to account for the slope of the mountain! That thing is STEEP!

The climb to the top alternates between bright light and shadow. You get to descend into these cool little nooks and crannies. This is the type of place that Walt Disney was trying to recreate when he built Disneyland and almost completely failed to truly capture (as good as Disney is, Wayna Picchu is that much better). I could think of no better place to bring your kids to run around and explore (although you’d have to have them pretty well trained against the dangers of falling and pulling crazy stunts on the rocks).

Here’s me making my way up some Inca road that has probaby been there for centuries. Actually, I don’t know if that’s true, the path migth have been rebuilt to accomodate fat tourists like me, but I don’t care. It seemed authentic enough and really, the appearance of authenticity is all I’m looking for.
Go to Wayna Picchu, go there now! If you haven’t been to the top of Wayna Picchu, you haven’t been anywhere!
