Burning Bulb to Release Paperclip Audio Book

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season. It is a cold, blustery day here in Northern Wisconsin. But that’s as it should be. I think we’ve gone sledding more already this year than we did in all of 2018.

A couple quick announcements:

  • My publisher Burning Bulb is set to release an audio version of Paperclip. This book has done very well this year, and I keep seeing nice comments on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads. Please keep the kind words coming! Dan and I have been working on a sequel that we plan on hammering out after the holiday season.
  • The Chippewa Falls library contacted me yesterday about giving my Inca Trail presentation in January of 2020. The Ellsworth Library gave me a rave review, so give both those libraries a like if you please :)! I’ll announce the date when we settle on one.
  • Yesterday I received a call from a reporter for The Country Today to inform me I’d won their “Christmas Memories” contest. That story should appear in the newspaper around the 18th.
  • My fantasy football team won its first playoff games…not too important in the larger scheme of things, but it’s gratifying to me.

I’ve been making more of an effort this year to contribute to nearby journals and participate in the local writing scene. However, I had a bit of a scare a few months ago.

I’d gone to the Volume One building to see a presentation on a release by Joe Niese and one from B.J. Hollars. The presentation was in a brick building and afterwards the host said, “By the way, the tornado watch has been upgraded to a tornado warning.”

What?

So I rushed home to find my family huddled in the downstairs bathroom–terrified. Fortunately the tornado literally jumped over the town of Chippewa Falls. It was on a collision path with our house and just jumped it.

Anyway, those are some of the other hazards of living in Wisconsin. My kids are all big fans of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (me too actually), so a tornado picking us up and carrying us away didn’t seem like a bad thing, My wife prefers earthquakes however.

That’s it for now, have a great Holiday season everyone!
