I’m delighted to announce that Perseid Press has just given me permission ‘to reveal the cover to my upcoming novel, ‘The Literate Thief.’ This is by far the most professional cover of any of my published works and I couldn’t be happier with how it looks. The cover art was done by Roy Mauritsen who has done all of the recent Perseid Covers (you can scroll through them on the Perseid page).
‘The Literate Thief’ does not yet have a release date, but Perseid has indicated it should be available within a few months. The book is a sequel to my 2013 release ‘The Reader of Acheron‘ (there’s talk of a re-release with an updated cover, which would be fantastic). Both of these novels are examples of dystopian fiction where the general public is controlled by the false narratives and propaganda of the ruling elite. The subject matter is becoming increasingly relevant in modern society.
Reading is prohibited, so the world is populated with rudimentary scholars scurrying around in filthy dungeons, seeking ancient books with the hope that they can glean some understanding and/or power. As you can see from the reviews, ‘The Reader of Acheron‘ has been very well received. I’ve done numerous interviews about it throughout the years, and you’ll find some interesting dialogues if you do a google search.
Perseid Press is small, but I consider it to be an elite publishing house. They don’t have Disney’s budget for advertising, but they make up for it by choosing quality works with challenging subject matter that eventually finds an audience. I’m always interested to read reviews, and I freely admit that much of the commentary surrounding ‘Reader’ influenced the direction of ‘The Literate Thief.’
The biggest factor for the success of ‘The Literate Thief’ will be to get as many reviews as possible when the book is launched. For those of you who have already read and reviewed ‘The Reader of Acheron,’ I thank you, and I know I can count on you to review ‘The Literate Thief’ as well. For those of you curious about the series, please don’t hesitate to pick up a copy of ‘Reader.’ Reviews are what keep writers going, and the more reviews, the more interest a book receives from Amazon’s vast, incomprehensible algorithm. For questions or comments, don’t hesitate to email me at: WalterRhein@gmail.com. I’ll be gearing up for some online book tours, so I’m happy to do blog interviews, etc. In the meantime, please enjoy this excerpt from ‘The Reader of Acheron’ and be sure to pick up a copy if you haven’t already:
